“Now that we can’t talk to Freshmen, I’ve been rushing by grabbing kids’ junk in the hallways.” -Fred

I worked in the writing center for the first time tonight. I worked with three “clients” and I think it went very well. Throughout our training, I saw quite a few parallels with camp counseling (not intended to be condescending). I think I’m going to enjoy this job a great deal, especially because I don’t need to write many papers of my own this semester (which I’m upset about).

My classes got off to a slower start than I would’ve hoped but are starting to get more interesting.

I’ve got less than two weeks until the half marathon. I did my first ten mile run on Sunday and it was tough but I felt great afterwards. I’m hoping to do 11-12 on Saturday then taper until the race. I might be doing another one in November, depending on how this goes. I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made. I’ve never been a distance runner, and basically decided to turn myself into one in a span of three months.

I am, however, excited to rage slightly harder once this is over. I’ll have a few weeks to truly enjoy myself before I start training for the next one. Even though there are some activities I’d like to partake in that I’ve had to renounce, I feel extremely good about myself. Not that I’ve ever had self-confidence issues (ha), but I’ve been absurdly healthy during my training. I didn’t have much weight to lose, but I accidentally dropped ten pounds this summer.

All’s well in North Carolina. I am no less enchanted with this place than I was a year ago.
